Conservation and biodiversity

Rocaverde Foundation is aware of how plants and trees play a vital role on natural ecosystems. We have our own mid-sized plant nursery for native species such as Roble (quercus spp) and Aguacatillo (Persea caerulea), to help maintain healthy populations of native species in our environment.
Other plants such as shrubs play a vital role in feeding birds and butterflies. Of all the butterfly species in the world, 18% are available in Costa Rica. The Country is also known for being “The Hummingbird Capital of the World”, with 51 of the New World’s 300 hummingbird species. For that reason it’s very important for us to multiply plants to feed these incredible creatures.
